We've got a family reunion to go to today. I was cooking yesterday and have a little more to do this morning. Jon's taking some of his famous deer sausage. I'm sporting a black bean and corn salad, hashbrown casserole, and the pound cake Jon's mom makes. The whole time I've been cooking I've that old song from the seventies stuck in my head, I think it was by Peaches & Cream, 'Reunited'. Like I said, it's been stuck im my mind long enough for me to play around with it. Here's my version in honor of today. Sing it with me...
Reuniting and I'm cooking food.
Reuniting and it's smelling good.
There's only one perfect cake,
and that's the one I did bake.
The crust, it kind of crumbled,
but I'm still gonna take i-it.
Reuniting and I made salad.
Reuniting and I'm awfully glad.
I really like this dish
and I only wish
that my kids did too.
But, honey, they don't,
so I'm servin' it to you-oo-oo.
I could go on with verses about potatoes or sausage, but I'll be kind and spare you. Have a great weekend.

I'm sharing the picture, not the recipe. Some things a girl has to keep to herself. ;)
Yum, that pound cake and salad look yummy. I make things too that my husband and kids do not like. Oh well, they are the ones missing out.
Hope you had a good time.

HAHAHAHA!!!! Everything looks so yummy. Hmmm...maybe I'll make me a pound cake today. : )
Reuniting in just 7 weeks,
Reuniting please don't get the leaks...Joey
I was at the reunion and let me tell everyone that wasn't, the pound cake was by far the crowd favorite that everyone raved about. It was g-o-n-e! Kelly is a good cook.
I am so SAD... I the prego girl with wild cravings and the appetite of a bear up from a long winters nap missed out on all of that good food...especially yours!!!
I'm so sorry, I wish you could have been there. There was so much good food. I remember the bear-like cravings--with the first it was Wendy's fried chicken sandwiches (never before & never again), the second wanted beef of all kinds, and with the third I had horrible cravings for baths (who knew you could crave non-food things, but I sure did).
oh it is these kind of blogs from you that are just plain cruel. pound cake...there is a reason it is called that but i have never turned one down. love you
